Worry less about the ‘how’ and more about the ‘who’.

Does anyone else feel like as soon as the first day of school hits, a marathon of school events, and extra curricular activities take over your calendar from August until December? Then, before you know it, you are counting down the days to Christmas break!

To add more stress to your already packed fall schedule, you remember you need to schedule family portraits. Oh my! But it isn’t just the scheduling you’re dreading, right? It’s the coordinating of each family member’s outfit, doing mom math and working your way backwards as to when each member must be dressed and ready, including yourself all while defusing the ones who are less than joyful about the blessed event. I get it. Even as a photographer, I go through this every year with my own family. My advice to myself and to you this year: Don’t stress, focus on the ‘who’ and not the ‘how’ this season. Embrace the joy and the giggles that accompanies the chaos of family. Let me bring you an experience the whole family will love. Pick a session date on Plain Jayne Photography’s calendar here and get ready for some fun!

This year, give yourself permission to focus on the “who” in your portraits, instead of the what, how, and when. Lifestyle photography means we don’t worry about the overly posed images, we capture real moments between family. Let the kids be silly, and maybe even a little wild. It makes for some of the most precious memories – promise. Besides, it is the “who” in your portraits, the smiles, the way those tiny hands grab yours, and even the wild hair that can’t be tamed that you will look back on and be grateful for. Not perfect, but beautiful. A beautiful reel of moments you never want to forget.

I hope I have encouraged you to take deep breath and let go of the stress around fall family portraits. I am here to make your session smooth, easy, and one you will leave excitedly awaiting your gallery.

As your littles (and not so littles) head back into school, know I’m praying over your kids’ school year, your schools, and your family. The beginning of school always brings a welcome routine back to us. May your coffee be strong this first week back!

’til next time,

Jayne
